Jahresbericht 2017/2018 online

Augsburg is the second oldest city in Germany. It is situated at the bottom of the Bavarian Alps only 30 minutes away from Munich. The city was founded about 2,000 years ago as a Roman fort. During the medieval times and the Renaissance it was one of Europe's most important economic and cultural centers. Today, Augsburg's appearance still reflects its history. Historical buildings in the city center invite one to talk a walk through its streets and to enjoy a coffee in the shade of the almost 400 year-old city-hall.

With around 270,000 inhabitants, Augsburg offers the advantages of vibrant city life and has a wide range of cultural programs in its city-theater, music hall and during its festivals. For outdoor lovers, Augsburg offers unparalleled possibilities with its many hiking routes, cycle paths and lakes (most of which are open to swimmers). Watersports are very popular in this part of Germany and hikers can enjoy the Alps which are a one-hour drive away.
