Why should you study European Economic Law?

Economic Law in the European Union is increasingly governed by rules from Brussels (e.g. Unfair Competition Law, Capital Market Law, Consumer Protection Law, Anti-Trust Law)

Importance for American Business Lawyers:

  • The EU is America´s largest trading partner
  • EU Institutions are able to stop U.S. mergers (e.g. Honeywell-GE)
  • Competition of legal systems (DaimlerChrysler incorporated under European Law)
  • EU may influence business behaviour of U.S. companies by imposing fines for unfair competition (e.g. Microsoft)

Some good reasons to join the summer program

  • Learn international law and the relevance of European law in a global economy during a six-week intensive course
  • Get in contact with law firms and global players such as Daimler-Chrysler, BMW, Siemens
  • A challenge: Try to get in contact with a different language (German, French, Italian)
  • Get a feeling for a different culture (the common and different values of the European people) and learn more about your own country
  • Travel around the famous sightseeing spots of Europe (Neuschwanstein, Munich, etc.)
  • Meet students from different countries in your courses
